HOPE X:
Hackers On Planet Earth

It's no secret I'm a bit of a computer geek.  A character in "24 - Genesis" was based on me (hell, he WAS me)...so naturally, I killed him.  Insert "lol" here.  As such, I'm taking a very, very brief vacation from torturing Jack Bauer here in NYC.  Today, I saw the real life Adrian Cross speak, Edward Snowden himself.  I'll try to keep political issues out of this blog as best I can, but I'm still me, and it's my damn blog...and damn, it was awesome.  In my opinion, he's an awesome, intelligent, and courageous young man who gave up his life to spread truth to the world.

Some will probably disagree, and that's okay.  Even Snowden said that's fine, just as long as your judgments and opinions are yours, and not spoonfed to you by someone else.

Anyhoo, I'll be back to writing early next week...and some unfortunate bastards will experience the joy of telling me how much this new story doesn't hold a candle to the others :)

Annnnnnnd done.

Cast of Characters:

Lance O'Neil - Special Agent for the CIA, having been brought in after helping bring down those responsible for the attempt on President Henshaw's life.

Sarah Keegan O'Neil - Software analyst for CIA.  Recruited after the attempt on President Henshaw's life.

Jason Roman - Head of CIA Spec Ops.

Ethan Wright - Director of CIA.

Wendy Maddox - Assistant to the Director, CIA.

President Douglas Henshaw - President of the United States.  Having survived the attempt on his life by a man known as "Jinn Kai," the President now faces his final days in office as his term is about to expire.

Jack Bauer - Special Advisor to the President.  Pardoned for all crimes and now living his life with no interest in field work.  He has vowed to leave that life behind him.
Hey folks, Rane here.

Ah, to be writing again.  For those of you who don't know, I'm a bit of a one hit wonder, and proud of it.  A little over ten years ago I wrote a 24 chapter/hour fan fic of my favorite television show in the world--"24."  It was called "24 - July 25th, 2003" (and should have been in the running for worst. title. ever. :-P).  I originally intended it to only be read by two people: my mom, and my best friend.  Well, neither read it (good mom and good friend though).  So naturally, I stuck it up on the 24um.

Apparently people liked it, and I wound up writing three more of these monstrosities.  Day II "Genesis," Day III "Zero Hour," and Day IV "Exile."  They were popular enough, despite some admittedly lazy, shoddy writing, to get my name into the Wall Street Journal.  I'm just glad that people enjoyed 'em, cuz I had a hell of a lot of fun writing 'em.

"24 - Live Another Day," the revival of 24, inspired me to start this new story, one I've had stuck in my head for years now.  I debated with how I wanted to handle it; do I continue my own mythology, or scrap it all and start over?  Well, I'm not a big fan of remakes, so this one picks up 8 months after "Exile."

So now, the bad news.  They say what you put on the Internet never goes away--not true.  Despite constant backups to discs, hard drives, and online, alas, time got the better of me--pun intended.  I still have the first and fourth stories, but II and III are gone from me now.  Which sucks, because they were my personal faves.  I'm sure they're still lurking about somewhere, and if anyone has a copy of even some of the episodes, please let me know.  Let me rephrase that, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know!

I would like to post Day I and Day IV at some point, and if II and III don't turn up, perhaps re-write them as best as I can remember.  For now, I'm going to provide links to a rather thorough synopsis of what happens in each one, so folks who haven't read them, but still want to jump into Day V, can get caught up.  Remember, my stories are AU (Alternate Universe...ish), so I've got my own canon.

Anyhoo, I'll be posting updates on this blog as I embark on yet another massive journey.  Some of you might help with proofreading, but keep in mind I like to wait until I'm certain the story will be finished before I officially release it.

All right, best get to it.  I'm going to head back into a new day of torment for Jack Bauer.  Day V.

I hope you all enjoy, "24 - Broken Vows"
